Proposed
Industries in
Navi Mumbai SEZ
A detailed industry analysis was carried
out in order to ascertain the kind of industries that
could set-up units within NMSEZ. The factors that influenced
the selection of industries include:
 |
Growth potential of
the industry with respect to existing and potential
growth drivers |
 |
Export potential of
the industry in terms of current and future competitiveness
vis-a-vis their counterparts in other countries
|
 |
FDI potential of the
industry in terms of existing and future investments,
as well as long-term trends with respect to the
relocation of certain industries to India, i.e.,
Software, biotech, etc |
 |
Attractiveness
of NMSEZ to these industries in terms of NMSEZ's
location, and incentives offered by GoI and GoM.
|
Based on the above factors, a potential
set of 18 industry segments was identified. These include:
 |
Agri & Agro-products |
 |
Aluminium Products |
 |

 |

 |

Note: Other services include communication,
construction, insurance, other business services etc.
Each of these industries has different
infrastructure requirements as well as different service
requirements. Further, different zones within the SEZ
have distinct location and land characteristics, making
them suitable for particular set of industries. For
example, Dronagiri's proximity to JNPT port makes it
highly suitable for port-based industries. Similarly,
Ulwe is in close proximity to residential areas and
is located closest to Mumbai in terms of travel time.
Therefore, skilled manpower intensive industries like
IT, biotech, etc., could be located at Ulwe.
Zoning of industries within the NMSEZ
can be developed jointly with the stratagic investor
along with finalisation of the master plan.
Infrastructure facilities in various
zones would be constructed on the basis of the type
of industry segments that have been co-located within
the zones/sub-zones and their infrastructure and service
requirements. Details of various infrastructure facilities
and services to be provided in the zone are given subsequently.
